In 2015 and 2016, TheBathOutlet.com had the pleasure of co-hosting BucksMont BizCon (BMBC). Teaming up with SEOM Interactive, TheBathOutlet.com team came up with the idea to host a premier all-day conference for small to medium sized businesses located specifically in the Bucks and Montgomery County areas. With an influx of business conferences hosted in the Philadelphia area, TBO and SEOM wanted to provide the same learning experience to businesses in the outskirts of the city.
The conference featured entrepreneurs and business owners in the area who are experts in all aspects of marketing. The first year was an overall marketing conference focusing on all aspects of how to market your business. With topics focusing on SEO, PPC, PR, Advertising, Email Marketing, and Entrepreneurship, with the ultimate goal to teach entrepreneurs and small business owners how to successfully market their business. Year two once again featured area business owners and experts but was more focused on integrated marketing plans. Many of the sessions addressed how different aspects of digital marketing worked together, for example, how PPC and SEO work together, PR and Social Media, and On and Offline Marketing work together for the success of marketing your business. Both years were very successful in their respective subjects and attendees expressed how much they learned and what new tools they would be applying to their business.
While attendees really enjoyed the learning sessions at each BMBC, the favorite part was the ever-exciting "Shark-Tank Style Competitions" that happened each year. In 2015, four businesses competed against each other, presenting their overall business idea to a panel of "sharks" for the chance to win a $5,000 prize. The 2015 winner was Katie Robinson, the owner of Taste of Tuscany, a homemade pasta sauce company who used her winnings to grow her business. Katie even came back as a "shark" for the 2016 contest. In 2016, the rules changed a bit, this time three businesses were chose to present their overall marketing plans. This time the winner was Jen Anderson and her adorable daughter, Madeleine, owners of GiGy, a company that creates high quality, customizable soft cases to protect musicians guitars and ukuleles. The competition was tough both years, but the sharks chose winners that they believed needed the funding and would use it to grow their business. TheBathOutlet.com?s Will and Yaz Shuhaibar each participated as sharks as well as the CEO of SEOM Interactive, Mark Kennedy. The reason that the competition came to fruition is because TBO and SEOM are all about giving back to the community and helping entrepreneurs and business owners to succeed. The Shuhaibar's and Kennedy both started their own businesses and love to give back to the community and were so happy to do so in this fun and exciting competition.
We were extremely happy to provide this conference for two years and are proud of how many small businesses we were able to help. Through the learning sessions, interactive panels and Sell it to the Sharks competition, we believe we helped Bucks and Montgomery County businesses change the way they approached their marketing plans and helped them to grow their businesses for future success. We loved giving back to our community and are grateful for the experiences that BMBC provided for us!
