I am confused by your pictures. Will this ring arm stay horizontal across the backplate our will the weight of a towel cause it to lower making it look like a â??ringâ??. I would prefer the bar look , how does one tighten it so it remains it that position?A
No, this towel ring does rotate on it mounting arm. The mounting arm does lock in place with a set screw. If you wanted a towel ring that does not swivel, we would recommend the Gedy 5470-13. ?
Can it be mounted so that the opening is on the right or the left?A
This can be hung in either direction, however if hung in the opposite way, the set screw will no longer be hidden and show above. ?
What is the measurement of the interior space between the bottom arm (which holds the toilet paper) and the top arm (the outside of which attaches to the wall)?A
That interior space is 2.5", please see attached photo for visual diagram of the space.

Yes, this towel ring does swivel out from the wall, as shown below. The item will sit steady at the horizontal position pictured, but can be lifted up towards the wall.
