What is a pressure balance cartridge?A
Have you ever been in the shower when the water temperature suddenly changed? It might have been due to someone else turning the water on in a different room, or another machine running like a dishwasher or washing machine.A pressure balance cartridge (valve) can provide an even temperature to a tub or shower despite fluctuations from other water usage in your home. Safety is an important factor! If it turned cold, well, that would not be fun. However, if there was the threat of scalding water that could be different. Most building codes now require having an anti-scald or pressure balance cartridge installed. You can certainly upgrade if yours doesn't have it.

Is this diverter anti-scold?A
This item has a pressure balance system, however, does not have an anti-scald system. If you are looking for a diverter with anti-scald, we highly recommend our thermostatic diverters.
