What is the distance of the holes in the back plate. We have a previous mount that is leaving holes 1 1/2" apart which we need to hide behind this plate.A
The distance between the holes on the back plate is 3/4", while the escutcheon itself is 2" in diameter.?

This is mounted via a mounting plate that is installed with two screws into proper wood backing and locked into place. Once secured, the mounting will be sturdy.
